Established in 1954 by industry representatives, the Northwestern University Transportation Center was the first university transportation center in the U.S. Since then, the Center has been recognized as a leading interdisciplinary education and research institution.

• NUTC faculty affiliate Karen Smilowitz was announced as a recipient of the 2015 Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence award, given annually to Northwestern professors who demonstrate "outstanding dedication to undergraduate education at Northwestern University."
• Congratulations to NUTC faculty member Ian Savage, winner of the Transportation Research Forum's 2015 Herbert O. Whitten Service Award, given to a TRF member whose contributions to the Transportation Research Forum have played an important role in the history of the organization.
• NUTC alumnae Charlotte Frei and Kelsey Watterworth joined the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana for STEMapalooza, which aims to get girls in grades K-12 interested in STEM courses and careers. Click here to learn more!
