NUTC Fall 2016 Industry Workshop: Machine Learning in Transportation

FALL 2016 INDUSTRY TECHNICAL WORKSHOP

On October 26, 2016, the Northwestern University Transportation Center (NUTC) and the Center for the Commercialization of Innovative Transportation Technology (CCITT) will co-host Machine Learning in Transportation, a technical workshop featuring industry practitioners and Northwestern faculty. The speakers listed below will present case studies of machine learning applications in transportation, either completed or currently deployed. Following the presentations, the speakers will participate in a moderated panel discussion about the impacts, opportunities, challenges, and benefits of integrating machine learning techniques into transportation operations and applications.

NUTC presents: "Supply Chain Dynamics Impacting North America's Containerized Trade" - Gene Seroka, Executive Director, Port of LA

Mr. Gene Seroka will provide an update on the continually changing dynamics of the containerized shipping sector, including the 2017 mega-alliance compositions among the world's major ocean carriers. He'll talk about strategies ports and marine terminal operators are pursuing to accommodate larger ships and increase cargo movement efficiency through the nation's largest port complex.
