NUTC Faculty Affiliate Fabian Bustamante's "TrailBlaze" App Nominated for Apps for Metro Chicago Award

NUTC faculty affiliate Fabian Bustamante's research lab created the app "TrailBlaze Chicago" to help cyclists report and share information about bike paths, and the app is now a finalist in the Apps for Metro Chicago contest. Bustamante’s lab, Aqualab, conducts research on large-scale distributed computing. The competition invited software developers, community groups, businesses and individuals to build apps that solve problems and improve services in Chicago. The competition’s goal is to increase government transparency by helping build software applications that are creative, useful, and designed for long-term impact. To help applicants, the City of Chicago, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), Cook County, and the State of Illinois provided over 175 data sets.
