IT Architect / Planner


Roles / Responsibilities:
The IT Architect will participate in development of technology architecture for NYCT, including the following:
• Information gathering from business units and technology management areas
• Design and document current and target IT architecture, including high level designs that describe and guide the implementation of technology
• Develop materials to communicate and present elements of the architecture for briefings to various levels of management, technical and client personnel
• Evaluate IT products and tools, and the costs and benefits of leading-edge technologies.

This position requires an interest in complex technology and business issues, as well as creativity and critical thinking, analytic skills, capacity for detail work, communication, presentation and people skills. A background and interest in Public Transportation and or real time information systems is desirable.

IT Specific Experience / Skills:
• BS or BA degree in business or computer science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in information technology architecture at an enterprise scale, including proficiency in analyzing and documenting requirements, designs and technical solutions at the network, application, and database level.
• Working knowledge of a wide range of methodologies, techniques and tools for modeling business systems architecture such as, but not limited to: value chain analysis, business event modeling, business process mapping, data flow modeling and other related disciplines.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies such as the Zachman Framework and TOGAF, and related tools for developing and documenting IT architecture.
• Ability to identify IT-enabled opportunities to resolve business pressures/needs
• Broad understanding of current and emerging technologies and trends including: operating systems, network and Internet technologies, services and open standards, database systems, and information security.
