Position Description:
Metra, the premier commuter railroad serving Chicago and northeastern Illinois, is accepting resumes for Section Manager, Research/Data Services. Summarized responsibilities include maintaining standardized report data and preparing/supervising preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Evaluates trends using technological applications in order to forecast demand and develop methods for addressing future needs. Conducts operations and financial data analysis, completes survey research, and on/off counts. Completes productivity reviews, rider surveys, and special studies and performs database development, statistical analysis, and other quantitative/qualitative methods of planning and policy analysis. Develops computer applications to improve data processing efficiency and presentation; monitors the accuracy and completeness of data sources. Prepares presentations and reports on a monthly basis. Supervises activities of staff within section and coordinates activities of the section to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance with established objectives, policies and standards are achieved. Must be able to work flexible hours as needed (early mornings, late afternoons, evenings and parts of some weekends).

Position Requirements:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, business/public administration, applied math, market research, or related field and a minimum of 8 years experience in statistical analysis and forecasting OR a master's degree and a minimum of 6 years experience in statistical analysis and forecasting. Two years' experience as a supervisor required. Applied experience with statistical, quantitative analyses, and database management required and proficiency and functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required. Must be able to train and supervise staff in performance-analysis techniques and computer applications and have excellent verbal and written communications skills including competency in the area of public speaking and presentation. Must be able to read and comprehend technical material and possess a valid driver's license.
