Scholarships & Fellowships
 The following are scholarship opportunities that are sent to the Transportation Center's Academic and Placement Center. Many are transportation related and some are available only to Northwestern's Transportation students. Partial descriptions of Scholarships are listed below for your convenience. Current Scholarship Opportunities
2008 Chicago Transit Authority Presidential Fellowship
- The Chicago Transit Authority is initiating the CTA Presidential Fellowship Program this summer and is open to graduate students in all academic disciplines. The aim of this highly selective, paid fellowship program is to recruit graduate students from across the country to gain skills as public service professionals while learning the complexities inherent to service provision in the public sector. Fellows will participate in projects related to strategic planning, infrastructural maintenance and development, performance management, and budget and finance.
The Transportation Center Ph.D. Dissertation Year Fellowship
- These Fellowships are awarded to eligible PhD candidates at Northwestern university who are in their final year of dissertation completion.
- Paper competition for current Northwestern transportation and logistics students.
Eno Leadership Development Conference Scholarships
- Each year, the Eno Leadership Development Conference gives the nation's top graduate students in transportation a first-hand look at how national transportation policies are developed.
George A. Gecowets Graduate Scholarship Program
- The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) has established this scholarship program for graduate students enrolled in programs leading to careers in supply chain management disciplines.
Transportation Research Forum - Graduate Student Paper Contest
- Have you written, or in the process of writing, a transportation-related research paper? Consider submitting it to the Transportation Research Forum (TRF) annual student paper contest.
Delta Nu Alpha Foundation Scholarship
- The DNA Foundation Scholarship Program is open to all students studying in the fields of Transportation, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
OPWA Educational Foundation Scholarships
- The OPWA Educational Foundation awards scholarships annually to talented and worthy young people within the office products industry.
Transportation Clubs International Scholarships
- Transportation Clubs International awards scholarships to students enrolled in accredited institutions of higher learning in a vocational or degree program in the fields of Transportation Logistics or Traffic Management.
ITE Fellowships for Graduate Study in Transportation
- The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) has established several fellowship and scholarship awards for graduate study in transportation.
George T. Snyder, Jr. Scholarship Program
- The George T. Snyder, Jr. Scholarships recognize deserving students who demonstrate scholastic ability, leadership, character, diversity, and the potential to be future leaders in the transportation, travel, and tourism industry.
American Bus Association Foundation - Research Grant Program
- The American Bus Association Foundation (ABAF) offers a grant program for graduate students currently working towards a specialized degree in a transportation, travel, or tourism field of study.
Inaugural R. Gene Richter Scholarship
- Winners of the R. Gene Richter Scholarship are awarded tuition assistance of $5,000 (December graduates will be awarded $2,500). In addition, Richter Scholars are enrolled in a mentoring program where they are paired with an established executive in the field.
CLM Doctoral Dissertation Award
- CSCMP provides the Doctoral Dissertation Award (DDA) for a doctoral dissertation in logistics or a related field that demonstrates significant originality and technical competence while contributing to the logistics knowledge base. The purpose of the award is to encourage research leading to advancement of the theory and practice of logistics management.
Traffic Club of Chicago Scholarship
- Scholarships are offered to either the children or grandchildren of club members, who are enrolled as full-time students at an accredited four-year college or university. Additionally, scholarships are also offered to students unrelated to club members, who are also full-time students at an accredited college or university and are pursuing an education leading to a career in freight transportation or logistics.
- UPS provides opportunities for employees to pursue higher education as well as training programs that prepare them for current and future jobs within the company.
Summer School on Advanced Purchasing Research
- The Institute for Supply Management will provide $2,000 support to each of two students to 12th Annual Summer School on Advanced Purchasing Research in Salzburg, Austria.
- The Frank J. Richter Scholarship program, AARS awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to students pursuing a transportation career.
